About Us

Jan Sonnenberg brings many years of education and experience to her position as founder of Professional Family, LLC. She was graduated with a degree in social work from Valparaiso University. She became the first administrator of Heisinger Lutheran Home, an assisted living facility. For more than 20 years Jan focused on improving the quality of life for residents with an emphasis on exercise and social interaction which helped many residents delay or avoid nursing care. In 2004 she helped start a nursing care unit and a dementia special care unit.
Jan’s personal experience of balancing a career with caring for aging parents in a distant location gives her a unique and very personal perspective of the many decisions that must be addressed. She brings compassion and understanding to the many families she serves because she has walked in their shoes.
She was awarded Commendation by a Missouri Senate resolution for serving Missouri senior citizens. Jan serves on the board of Directors for Homemaker Health Care and has held a number of leadership positions at her church, Faith Lutheran in Jefferson City.
Jan is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and the National Association of Social Workers.
Jan is certified as a care manager by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers.
